I love this game, it's simply worth every single pennie! I wanted to revive my love for the GBA SP and this did the job perfectly. Thank you so much!

graphics are from another dimension where dogs program stuff.

Hey is this still getting a physical GBA cart release? Thought I saw it on this page a while ago, but don't now. Are you already sold out for pre orders?

Just found this site for preordering the cartridge:
https://firstpressgames.com/products/goodboy-galaxy-gba-na-regular-edition

As the devs, can you tell me if the site is reputable?

Just fyi: According to their kickstarter, they even had to talk to a lawyer regarding this company. FirstPressGames is very shady and takes a lot of time to release things if they release them at all. So, we probably won't see a physical release.

Wow ok, thanks for the heads up. I will steer clear. Lots of red flags on reddit about this company.
It sucks I really want to play Goodboy Galaxy on my GBA SP. Oh well!

The weird part: You can buy counterfeits on aliexpress. However, you never know what version they are burning and the cards may fail spontaneously because they usually lack quality control. But if you don't have an Everdrive or an Analogue Pocket or some emulation device, then this might be the only way to play the game on a good handheld.

One cool thing you can do is buy a quality GBA Rumble cartridge from InsideGadgets and burn the ROM to it. Comes with FRAM for saving, and a rumble motor. Just patch the rumble in, and you're off to the races. Matthewmods on Etsy can set you up with a fresh, high quality label for the cartridge too.

I won't able to rate this wonderful one how do I do that?

Lovely game.

Is there a way to respawn at the ship? The select button held for 2 seconds isn't working.

A couple of softlocks:

- Totummy Temple: Red Bell path. You can shrink yourself along the way to the red bell, drop down into the mazey path that guides the blaster projectile, and you can get stuck between two slanted mirror pieces.

- Resonarion: For the puzzle where you direct a Toot directly underneath a music block, so it stays in place on a pressure pad. By backtracking a little bit, you can hit the music blocks above the room, guiding the Toot to unintended places. You can direct the Toot to stand above the openable floor, then open it yourself using the pressure pad, causing the Toot to remain trapped underneath.

Both of these softlocks occurred naturally while playing, so I thought I'd mention them :)

Thanks! Yes the warp-back-to-ship feature works, and is intended to be used if you ever manage to get trapped. However, I've heard that "hold select" is a hotkey on some systems (RetroArch on SteamDeck?) which could interfere with the game's control scheme. Maybe you could try mapping some other button to Select and see if that helps?

Trying to Parchuse but keeps giving errors. To bad can't try it out

It is so awesome to see this on actual hardware!

Has v1.3 been released yet? I want to buy the game but I am waiting until the release.

Hello, is there any estimate on when it will be released for Nintendo Switch?
I can't wait to play this game in its entirety.

.

My friend's development team is interested in porting the game to Xbox Series. They sent an email to you at this address: hello@goodboygalaxy.com, and they are awaiting your response, regarding their proposal.

Holy shit...I never thought we'd see a modern fan-made GBA game like this. It's actually insane. It's like an official GBA game of the highest quality, easily deserving a 100% on Metacritic. I really hope people realize how special this is. Like...how?? A successful kickstarter campaign made this happen? I still can't believe it.

If the devs ever made a GBA rom similar to Binding of Isaac, I'd be in heaven. I'm a sucker for games with randomized item pools that create a unique experience in each playthrough. That, or a Stardew Valley clone, but I think I'll just have to keep dreaming 😂.

I'm VERY happy with this game, and there is limited info about it online, so owning a copy kinda makes me feel like I'm a member of some sort of unofficial club, lol. Cool!

I'm having so much trouble finding the last chest?

I found the big secret through my friend list (awesome by the way) but the last chest seems so elusive to me.

I've 100% every maps. Is it something so obvious I'm missing it or is one of them super well hidden?

Thaaaaanks

I’m hoping someone can help me here! I’m having a ton of issues trying to play this on genuine hardware. I successfully loaded the rom and played it a bit on my Analogue Pocket, I have successfully flashed the demo to a repro cart using the FunnyPlaying burnmaster but when I try to do ANYTHING with the actual full game I have zero luck anywhere. It straight up won’t show up on anywhere on my EZ Flash Omega and I cannot get past “writing 50%” while flashing it to a cart. I really want to experience this game on genuine Nintendo hardware, I am using an authentic / paid for rom! Also is the physical release ever happening? I’ve been holding off due to the pre order being frozen at winter 2023 forever and the company who is hosting it does not respond to emails.

(+1)

Hello! That sounds familiar with the EZ Flash Omega, if I recall correctly it can happen if you drag the ROM directly from the .zip file rather than extracting and then copying. Please let me know if that helps! For the flashing to the repro cart, you will need a 32MB SRAM or FRAM cart (the demo only needed 16MB I think). Unfortunately we don't have an update on the pre-orders, we are waiting for some emails as well.

(+2)

Any update on when the physical release is happening?

hey, just to clarify, the starbi daytrip cassettedisk is a bonus track for the OST right? can i set it up to play in-game too?

It's its own separate music player for GBA (very high quality for GBA audio!) with 3 tracks - it is not available in game, though there is a version of the main song in the game too.

I got a gift card as a birthday gift recently, but wasn’t able to process the payment fir the ROM. Does it take gift cards?

Pre-paid visa should work, if you have trouble you might have to contact itch support though.

(+1)

Thanks! I’ll contact them again. Looking forward to it!

I was playing the official version of the game and with that I tried to deliver the bone to the whippy character, but the game crashes during the dialogue and I can't do anything anymore, why could this be?

(+1)

It's a problem with the MyBoy! Emulator for Android, I'm afraid. On Android you can use Lemuroid or RetroArch (or PizzaBoy if you can find it still).

有的贵喔:-O

Just bought the rom after playing the amazing demo. I noticed there is a nice Cover Art for each rom in the demo zip file, but none for the full version? Or did i miss something?

(+1)

en cuanto reciba mi paga.. lo compro Hay que apoyar al indie!!!

(+5)

This game was absolutely Incredible! I played it from start to finish in two sessions and goodboy was it amazing!

The Art, Banger OST, Gameplay, and story was super cool!
I didn't back this project up but I remembered playing the demo a while back and it sparked my interest in this game again! Some sections were a little difficult but I think that can be barked up to just me being tired or not exactly knowing what to do at first. This was also one of the first exploration games I did not need any guides on too!

Overall this is a Super Galactic Gem!

(1 edit)

Hello! Is it possible to get a lossless copy of the OST please?

Many thanks!

Edit: nvm, found it on Bandcamp :-)

It will be updated here, no need to wait or repurchase. There is very little difference tho - 99.9% of players will have identical experiences, it just prevents a couple of rare bugs. Save files are compatible between versions.

If I've already pre-ordered a physical copy of the game through first press is there some way to download the ROM of version 1.2 in the meantime?

(+6)

Never mind I realized I'd rather just give you more money to support the project

Hi, the game seems fantastic, can you tell me if there is also an Italian localization planned?

Will 1.3 be the version on the physical cartridges when those are released? If we already purchased/have the version here, do we get the update or have to purchase it again?

(1 edit) (+1)

Yeah, it will be on the carts - it only has very minor fixes, we'll update the version on here soon, no need to repurchase

how do I ring the red bell? I’m stuck.

Shoot the charge-shot into the pipe and rush thru to let it past the trapddoors.

thanks! I got it!

wow why is the .cia so much smaller than the gba rom?

Deleted 173 days ago

The .CIA is slightly bigger, it's just zipped up.

Loved the game, but I want to go back and finish various goals I missed, without restarting. Is it actually possible to generate the Hyper Beam mentioned by Sbooch so I can get back off Echelon? He makes it sound possible, but he may be a scammer!

You use the hyperbeam in the final-final boss fight, but it is possible to unlock it for use during the main game too (the clues to doing that are in the friend cards).

I'm sure I didn't use it for the final boss fight. Alas.

If you beat the game you did, (it's not something you have to search for).

Hi, I'm interested in the physical release of the game and had a question. The video says " Shipping Winter 23," but following the link I see it is still a pre-order. Is there a new estimate on shipping? Or maybe I'm mistaken and they are going out now. Either way I would love one so LMK!

The latest update is mid-march, sorry about that.

Hi, I bought the GBA Mini SD Super Card SD Flash card.

The flash card requires you to press L+R+B+Select to save and load save data.

Your game: Good Boy Galaxy doesn't allow this and the flash card doesn't recognise the in game auto saved as saving data.

Thanks for replying with a fix that somehow actually works.

Thanks for the hind and tip, it worked a treat even keeping the sav after doing the save method for longer than off and straight on again. ⭐

Once I transfer it over use SD card to also saving+sci transfer exe first.

That tip should work for all Homebrew and GBA Jam game.

Now I can enjoyed the cool 16bit +trumpet sound, graphics and story from beyond the beginning of the game on the original hardware it was originally design for.🥹

In my case GBA so 001 with, On Play battery pack.

Now to enjoyable replying the Demo for the third and last time from the beginning discovering the crossover sequel second time round.

As I really want to know not only see how much story tied into along side game play you can get out of 32bit hardware test more powerful/different than a SNES.

Will Dog boy do got get all crystals while creating friends, exploring Planet in 2D and shooting bad guy while occasionally go full 3d animation when benefits.

Hello, unfortunately it's a limitation with how the supercard works - we're not able to change the game to work with its ROM patching as it relies on patching over Nintendo's SDK code (which we did not use).

It should still be possible to save with the supercard, but it sounds slightly fiddly: After playing, quickly turn the GBA off and on again, restart the menu, go to the saver tab and copy the SRAM to the SD card. (I believe this solution may rely on the internal battery in the supercard still holding charge but the documentation is a little unclear).

Hope that works ok!

Help! This game has been so much fun! My kid loves it too. I finally beat it and almost have 100% but...

Can I get a hint at where the last 4 residents of the Zootel might be located please? Thanks!!!

Hi,

On Discord (wiki channel), there's an image with all the capturable creatures.

Maybe this image would help you?

thank you!  Thank you!

I am missing the Xenorat and Piripiribana! Gonna try capturing the Xenorat when I drop it in the acid.

This game is unreasonably fantastic. The visuals are drop-dead gorgeous, the music is phenomenal, there are ANIMATED CUTSCENES IN A GBA GAME??? The gameplay is fun and engaging, the mechanics are so polished and satisfying, and the game design is outstanding. It’s the type of game that teaches you its mechanics by having you accidentally stumble into doing the correct action, making you feel like an genius and immediately teaching you how the game works. It’s clever, it’s delightfully charming, the production value is ridiculous and it is so, so fun. I have never been more happy with a spur of the moment purchase like this before. If you like sidescrolling platformers but aren’t sure if this game can stand up to the best… (well there’s always the demo if you can’t decide). But as someone who considers platformers to be my favorite video game genre, I can easily say that this is one of the best ones I’ve ever played. It feels like I’m constantly being spoiled when I play this game. Don’t miss this one.

Just wanted to pop in here and let everyone know this game works wonderfully on the Steam Deck by using EmuDeck with RetroArch installed! If you have any audio issues with the GBA emulator, make sure your steam deck is set to 60FPS (I typically have mine on 40fps to conserve battery life)

As far as the game goes... it is absolutely incredible. Thoughtfully designed and truly delightful. I am still fairly early on in the game and cant wait to see what else is in store :D

superb game, so much attention to detail and love. Absolutely must play GBA title!
